Over the years, textiles became one of our foremost stock items and in 1998 we took over the fabric agency to wholesale and retail the Finnish brand, Marimekko. Displaying the bold prints and vibrant colours of these fabrics in our shop window attracted the attention of a number of staff members and clients of the late Marion Hall Best, the prominent and important importer, retailer and interior designer in Sydney who pioneered the use of Scandinavian and Australian modern design from the 1940s to mid 1970s. We were privileged to gain the friendship of these mentors who gave us great and valuable insight into honing our raw skills in understanding and using prints and colour as part of our work with our own customers. Apart from the Marimekko fabrics, our range expanded to include JimThompson silks (both vintage and new), original vintage Florence Broadhurst wallpaper, Japanese grassweave wallpaper and Scandinavian studio glass and ceramics.
On the personal invitation of Tyler Brule, founder and editor of Wallpaper* magazine in 1999, Casey embarked on his first interior styling project on a photo shoot in a beautiful modernist house in Whale Beach. This project gave us the opportunity to show our passion for print and colour and became part of the special edition of Wallpaper* magazine’s focus on Sydney. This also gave us our first exposure to a wider international audience, beyond Surry Hills and Sydney.
Another milestone came in April 2013, when we relocated to our new home in the dynamic and raw creative hub of Redfern. In this new location on Regent Street, we decided to combine well designed and well made products in both vintage and contemporary pieces together in one showroom.
Our product range includes new pieces from both Australian and imported brands; Studio Lisa Bengtsson, Third Drawer Down, Marimekko, Seletti, Sandsmade, Cybelle Blakebrough, Berto Pandolfo, Trent Jansen, as well as own homebrand, CSF. Joining these brands, we have included one-off antique and vintage pieces ranging from African textiles and decorative arts to Japanese textiles, ceramics and folk art.
In addition, we also offer our specialized services in made-to-order cushions, lamp shades and window treatment options to suit individual interiors and spaces. Come in and have a look at what other products and services we have in-store, and to discuss new possibilities. Alternatively, follow us on Instagram and Facebook to take a peek at new pieces and news as they come in.
